I love playing with clay and fire, and the endless ideas of what I can create! I hand build all of my work, using different types of clay, including Western Australian clays to achieve different effects and textures. I love experimenting with pit, saggar, and raku firings, it's a game of spontaneity and unpredictability. I am using fire and nature to decorate a lot of my work, and as usual nature does a brilliant job. I am not afraid to push the limits, even with shapes and sizes, often large and sculptural. I create decorative and functional pieces that generally have a very 'earthy' feel and look, but I have also experimented with other finishes this year. The following quote from Mary Lou Cook inspires me every day - “Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun”.
