Weird Wired Jewellery

My work is created for those who love intricate jewellery. I fell in love with making wire jewellery over 15 years ago and have been honing my skills ever since – self-taught but inspired and encouraged by many fellow makers it is an ongoing process. Music is the inspiration when making jewellery – my intricate, woven work comes from a place of meditation, laying the weaving wire over the base wire in repetitive patterns allows for much contemplation of the world and how to put it to rights–accompanied by classical, acapella, or instrumental works. My more figurative works come from the pure enjoyment of playing with wire, colour, and form. This work is created to more upbeat, joyful styles of music. The processes used in the creation of my jewellery involve neither solder nor glue, instead it is the wires bending, shaping, and wrapping around itself that makes the permanent connections. I choose to use 100% recycled copper and silver wire, gemstones, and beads plus some found and re-purposed items. I fabricate my own clasps, ear wires, jump-rings and chains as well as weaving each unique item, involving many hours of work.
