I am inspired by the flow of patterns and designs in nature, and aim to bring attention to this through my artwork. For me, this flow encompasses all lifeforms, and constantly evolves through our habits, rituals and relationships. I love to observe how all of life (even at a cellular level) is able to adapt and reinvent itself to survive, often becoming stronger in the process. Working with mixed media such as acrylic paint, inks, watercolour, and collage, I begin with fluid painted strokes or simple lines, and build up layers and forms through intricate line work and detailing. I love that this looseness allows space for random storylines to develop and flourish. My work is also influenced by my affinity with the ocean which informs my style and often includes little houses, symbolising a sense of place, identity and an “infinity of uniquenesses”. I am a multi-disciplinary artist working mostly with acrylic and ink, I am inspired by our interaction with nature and create flowing art driven by an intuitive use of patterns and colour.
